Tech free time is crucial in letting your thoughts flow freely, particularly being outside or at least with a view of outside. I highly recommend tech free breaks for yourself and staff with one foot in nature to keep you grounded and connected to self.

Having more people be familiar with each role to create ‘dispensable’ roles so a workplace doesn’t crumble or come to a grinding halt when key staff are away.

Gone are the days of needing to be ‘indispensable’ or having ‘indispensable’ staff. This mindset all stems from insecurity which doesn’t serve anyone in the long term. Creating transparency and multi responsibility around roles creates more freedom, more collaboration and more streamlining of roles.

Time off is managed so staff don’t come back to a major backlog creating more pressure and less inclination to take time away. Defeats the purpose of a holiday.

A holiday needs to be time away from what you usually do. For your team, it can be healthy to have a disconnect entirely and relax in the knowledge that they come back to a clean slate. As an owner, I like to reset and reconnect away from the workplace to brainstorm and become centred again, away from the daily pressures of work.
